ENVIRA completes the transition to the standard ISO 14001:2015

Published on 3 October, 2018

Corporate News,

ENVIRA has completed the transition to the ISO 14001: 2015 standard. Since our inception we have opted for the integration of an Environmental Management System (EMS), based on continuous improvement, acquiring commitments in order to prevent and minimize the impact of our activities on the environment. Since ENVIRA is a company that focuses its activity on the creation of environmental solutions for Air Quality monitoring, the fact of being internationally recognized with the ISO 14001: 2015 certificate, shows the continuous effort we carry out to improve our solutions and innovative services.

Transition process

In the transition process to the standard ISO 14001:2015, we highlight the following challenges:

1.       The context of the organization

One of the main differences of ISO 14001:2015 with respect to its predecessor, it’s that it should be well specified and included factors that are detrimental to the scope of the objectives. In addition, the new standard expands the concept of stakeholders, for past customers, partners or shareholder.

2.       Risk-based thinking

With the ISO 14001 standard, ENVIRA requires considering risks during decision making, whether strategic, tactical or operational level.

3.       Approach to processes

The definition of the relevant processes for the organization and the attribution of indicators evidencing their effectiveness.

Changes in the new standard

1.       The concept of leadership

The objective is to strengthen the responsibility of senior management regarding compliance with the requirements of the management system following actions:

  • Discharge of duties
  • Establishment of the unity of purpose and direction.
  • Warranty conditions for obtaining objectives.
  • The commitment of the staff

2.       Lifecycle

The standard ISO 14001:2015 includes the concept of life as a systematic approach in the EMS, considering the different areas and processes where it has control or influence.

3.       Environmental impact

This term refers to the environmental changes in the long run that may be affected by the activity of the company. ENVIRA is committed with the reduction of the environmental impact of our actions.

4.       Risks and opportunities

Although the impacts resulting from the environmental aspects are a risk to the organization, this standard also considers risks and opportunities:

  • Make sure that the EMS meets the expected results.
  • Prevent or reduce adverse effects or potential effects of the organization.
  • Ensure continuous improvement of the system.

Committed to environmental management systems

As an organization, in ENVIRA are committed to the implementation of environmental management systems that will help us to improve de efficiency in all our procedures. In addition to having the certification ISO 14001:2015, also we are attached to the EMAS (EcoManagement and Audit Scheme).

This European certification of environmental quality promotes:

  • Continuous improvement of environmental performance with the implementation of an EMS.
  • The systematic, objective and periodic evaluation of its operation.
  • The dissemination of information on the environmental performance of ENVIRA.

Both certifications reflect the strong commitment of ENVIRA with the integration of the environmental management, as well as the adopted commitment to prevent environmental impacts in each of our actions, promoting the efficient use of resources and environmental improvement.
