Corporate News, Indoor air quality,

Oviedo (Spain) – 15 February 2021.

ENVIRA, a company specialized in advanced environmental monitoring and a leader in comprehensive automatic systems for monitoring environmental quality, air quality networks, and manufacture of devices with IoT technology, has expanded its presence in Asia signing a strategic partnership with Power Workplace, a PropTech system integrator and technology solutions provider. From now, the company will offer the indoor air quality monitoring solution Nanoenvi IAQ, a device that monitors indoor air quality in real-time so that building managers can make decisions to improve the health and well-being of people.

Why is it necessary to monitor indoor air quality?

Considering that people spend approximately 90% of their time indoors, breathing clean air is essential for health. The US Environmental Protection Agency has found that indoor air can be two to five times more polluted than outdoors, and the World Health Organization has warned that poor indoor air quality can cause short-term and long-term health risks.

Exposure to high levels of indoor air pollutants, such as volatile organic compounds (VOCs), can cause headaches, dry throat, eye irritation, and runny nose. Likewise, exposure to particulate matter (PM 2.5 and PM10) can also cause respiratory and cardiovascular diseases. All of these are symptoms associated with the well-known SBS (Sick Building Symptoms) or sick building syndrome.

Now buildings can achieve and maintain safe air levels with an indoor monitoring system. Nanoenvi® IAQ is an IoT device that indicates when the air quality is above or below the thresholds recommended or permitted by the corresponding current regulations.

Nanoenvi IAQ devices monitor the following parameters:

  • Carbon dioxide (CO2)
  • Carbon monoxide (CO)
  • PM10 and PM2.5 particles
  • Volatile organic compounds (VOCs)
  • Relative Humidity (RH)
  • Temperature
  • Atmospheric pressure

Based on them, the device calculates an air quality index (AQI) that monitors the level of health and well-being in indoor spaces. Users will be able to know the quality of the air they breathe through color codes.

The possible values of the index move in the range 0-7, where:

  • 7 optimum quality (blue LEDs)
  • 4-6 good quality (green LEDs)
  • 2-3 moderate quality (yellow LEDs)
  • poor quality (red LEDs)

“Good indoor air quality is fundamental and we need to know the places where we work are healthy and safe.” said Raymond Chan, CEO of Power Workplace. “Nanoenvi® IAQ is the ideal device that continuously monitors indoor air quality so that managers can make decisions to improve employee’s health and well-being.
