Ambient Air Quality measurement campaigns

Home » Services » Ambient Air Quality measurement campaigns

Our Air Quality Measurement Campaigns service is specifically designed to meet the needs of measuring air quality during specific pollution episodes, monitoring specific pollutants associated with road traffic or industry, and assessing the representativeness of a fixed station.

What is an Ambient Air Quality measurement campaign?

According to current legislation, air quality measurement campaigns are short-term studies carried out during periods and at locations where there is a high probability of high levels of air pollution being observed, or to verify data collected by fixed stations.

These measurement campaigns and their reports are carried out in accordance with Directive 2008/50/EC, Law 34/2007 and Royal Decree 39/2017 amending RD 102/2011. They set air quality objectives which, depending on the pollutant, are expressed as limit values, target values, long-term objectives or thresholds for informing and/or alerting the population.

Aims and characteristics of measurement campaigns

Remote areas

Remote areas

Targeted measurement campaigns to determine pollution levels at locations remote from the fixed remote stations that make up the automatic monitoring network.

Representativeness

Representativeness

These campaigns allow to improve the knowledge of the phenomenology and to compare the data with fixed stations in the atmospheric zones in order to check their representativeness.

Immission in industry

Immission in industry

Indicative air quality measurements in areas possibly affected by installations with potentially air polluting emissions.

Air pollution episodes

Air pollution episodes

This type of measurement campaign is designed to monitor air quality in areas that may experience occasional air pollution episodes.

How do we conduct these campaigns?

Mobile air quality monitoring unit

We have a mobile air quality monitoring station equipped with all types of analyzers for the control of pollutants and meteorological variables. It also functions as a remote station for carrying out specific measurement campaigns.

It allows the monitoring of the main atmospheric pollutants:

· PM10 and PM 2.5 suspended particulate matter.
· Sulphur dioxide SO2
· Carbon monoxide CO
· Nitrogen oxides NOx
· Ozone O3
· Benzene, toluene and xylene BTX
· Meteorological equipment (wind direction and speed, relative humidity, pressure and temperature)

Measurement campaign reports

The measurement campaigns are associated with their corresponding reports which include the objectives and results of the campaign, the methodology used, the location of the monitoring devices based on the macro and micro-implantation criteria established in RD 102/2011, the meteorological data collected during the measurement period and the conclusions.

Of course, this service offers the possibility of customising all types of graphs and report content.
